Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
When asked to remodel the existing 1900-square-foot space, we jumped at the chance to work with local restaurateur Love Nance again. The concept became clear very quickly: bring a fresh new vibe to the forefront which, in turn, strengthens her original “farm-to-flight” concept, one of the nation’s first to provide an all-natural, organic approach to airport cuisine.
We focused on designing the interior displays to transport the travelers attention to the food for an authentic café experience, while still exposing the subtle cues of the terminal and airplanes beyond. The double height space in the airport was used to connect the scale of the terminal by lowering it to a more intimate human scale that you feel in a café.
